About this Speaker

Lyell Asher is Associate Professor of English at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where he teaches courses on Renaissance literature, Shakespeare, and the novel. His scholarly work has appeared in the Publication of the Modern Language Association, the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, the Yale Journal of Criticism, Religion and Literature, and English Literary History among others. His essays on higher education have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The American Scholar, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and Quillette. Recently, he wrote and presented a 15-part video series (produced by Peter Boghossian), Why Colleges are Becoming Cults, available on YouTube.
